OUR STORY
Mujer Fuerte was founded as a direct result of the Maternal Mortality Health Crisis happening to Black birthing persons and persons of color across the United States due to systematic racism and implicit bias in healthcare. Committed to addressing injustices in the birth world and working to bridge the gap between our communities and hospitals, MF set out to bring awareness to birth work and ensure doula access is possible for all in NYC. It is important for us at MF to center intersectionality and the humanity of the people we work with because we know that what we are building are lasting relationships with folks. This is about more than just us. We are working to make generational change.
During the sacred process of birth, MF’s mission is to support, nurture, heal, educate and honor the informed decisions of the families we support. We aim to empower and support expecting families throughout each step of the birthing process by expanding on health literacy and childbirth education. By providing support, evidence-based research and resources to families in our local communities we are ensuring that everyone gets the help they need.
Birthing people deserve to know that there are options and what those options are. Choice matters, language matters, and so does our relationships with our communities and the way that we serve them. We know we aren’t perfect but we do aim to model the behavior and change that we seek to create in the world.
ABOUT ME
I am Eugenia and I am a birth and postpartum doula. I have a passion for caring for people and her belief in the importance of the mind, body and soul connection has led her to support over 100 plus families in their family and birth planning journey. As a doula, Eugenia has a profound respect and appreciation for the birthing parent’s journey into parenthood. Families need support as they grow. Eugenia is there to help you identify which areas in your life you need the most support and assist you with coming up with a plan that works for you and your family. As a new mom herself, Eugenia understands how essential it is time to have someone in your corner cheering you on as you navigate this big transition in your lives!
Eugenia offers a non-judgmental and caring approach to the birthing parent-to-be and family. She is supportive and promotes self-advocacy and curiosity. Eugenia will honor your decisions, show you compassion and encourage you through the labor experience. She is committed to offering support that is gentle and whole, centering culture and wellness and body autonomy and she would love to support you during this big moment in your lives!
